In strong westerly winds, a sheltered anchorage can be taken on the east side of the town. Study of your chart is recommended for this area as there are sand banks as well as some relatively deep water areas
The town itself has two bars: in the Royal Hotel at the harbour and the Fishertown Inn on Church Street.
Food is available at both of these and there are also other places to eat: Sutor Creek Deli/Takeaway in Bank Street and Slaughterhouse Coffee by the ferry slip for coffee and small snacks.
There is a very good General Store/grocery/papershop in Bank Street with the famous Cromarty Bakery across the road from it, the Post Office isnext door to the bakery. There is a selection of other shops including books, gifts, souvenirs and antiques.
